In choosing a hosting package, there are some things to consider, like Operating System (OS), disk quota and bandwidth.  Operating systems used are either Linux-based or Windows-based.  This will determine the softwares, web programming language and databases that can be supported.  Amount of Disk Space provided is usually referred to as disk quota. Disk Quota is the capacity of the hosting that is provided to you, to store the files on your website.  You can use the amount of your hard disk space to store your files on your computer as an analogy.

Bandwidth is the allowable monthly access to your website.  As an analogy, levels of bandwidth a month can be referred to as the road to your home.  The greater the bandwidth, the greater the highway to your house, and the more people can come to your home; in this case it is the website.  In usual cases, the bandwidth of 1 Gb is sufficient, but if your site is visited by thousands of people a month, more bandwidth will be required.  Every person who opened the website or download files from your website use certain amount of bandwidth. Bandwidth usage and capacity will be reset at the beginning of each month.
