Design
Here at Word To The Press we take a different approach to design… we don’t do it.
Okay, that’s not entirely true. Here’s the deal: our intent is to create websites that present high standards in every regard, but at a price that’s affordable. We build sites on the WordPress platform; WordPress is supported by a monstrosity of a community of developers, some of whom focus strictly on designs (better known as “themes”) that work perfectly with the WordPress system. We have sought out some of the best premium theme designers and purchased developer licenses for their work to build a solid library of pre-made themes. This allows us the freedom to [legally] take an existing layout & use it as a foundation for your website’s specific needs.
The uniqueness of your site all depends how we end up tweaking a theme to fit your needs. Basic logo integration and changes to the color scheme are included in the $899 setup fee. This makes a significant impact on your site looking unique, even if the layout is similar to others. Furthermore, once your site is populated with content, your readers will generally NOT focus on the layout UNLESS it’s not user-friendly (which all of our designs are!).
Why do we take this approach?
- It saves us time, which allows us to offer our services at a significantly lower price point than you would pay for a completely custom design. It is common to see web designers’ rates in the $50/hr (or more) range.
- It allows us to focus on usability and the actual functionality of your site, as the themes we have in our library are all cross-browser compatible & meet strict web standards. Again, saving time & money.
Why WordPress?
- It’s a state-of-the-art publishing platform that makes managing your content simple. Gone are the days of contacting your designer to make basic changes to your site.
- It’s open source, so not only is it free to use (thus saving you license fees), but it’s incredibly flexible because there are so many worldwide users & developers who continue to improve & refine WordPress’ capabilities.
