Hosting
We mean it when we say that we make running your website painless. Every site we create is hosted by us on a server that is designed for optimal performance… after all, there is more to running a successful website than merely having a quality design.
Our sites run on WordPress, which is more resource-hungry (processing power & memory usage) than static sites due to its dependence on PHP & MySQL. We’ve seen WP sites experince serious downtime because the servers they run on get overloaded. This is most commonly due to users operating sites on grossly oversold servers, where one machine takes the responsibility of running dozens, and often hundreds, of sites concurrently. Sure, you may be able to find a host who offers “unlimited” storage and bandwidth for $5.95/mo, but the truth is that the company is selling WAY MORE resources than they actually have, banking on the idea that statistically the majority of users won’t use anywhere near their allotted resources.
We currently lease a linux-driven eight-core (yes, 8!) Intel Dual Xeon Harpertown server, housed in a private datacenter facility in downtown Chicago, linked into three of the highest quality bandwidth providers to provide low latency connectivity and high availability to all locations around the globe. This server runs all the Word To The Press sites, and we won’t allow it to become overloaded. As we acquire more users, we add more server resources, and if need be, more servers. It’s really quite simple.
Our site package includes a $19/mo fee, part of which covers all the hosting you’ll need. If your site becomes insanely popular & taxes our server(s) too much, we’ll talk… but until that point, we’ve got you covered with plenty of storage, plenty of bandwidth, email services, & all the goodies you should expect from a quality host. There’s no need to worry about numbers, but if you must know the crucial basics… you’ll get 10gb of storage, 100gb of data transfer, and unlimited email addresses.
Currently we do not host any sites outside of our parent company, Cville Digital LLC, without a WTTP service plan. Additionally, we do not offer our WTTP site package without hosting.
